Hi-Impact:

Hi-Impact of Campus Club Milledgeville is composed of the best and brightest high school students who participate in its AARTSSinitiative (Academic & Artistic, Renaissance, Teaching, Student Success). Selected students have dedicated themselves to building their artistic talents and in doing so, build their self-confidence and strengthen their community. Using multiple genres of contemporary music, students learn key lessons in harmony, theory, ear training, and instrumental performance. The staff will draw from music the children already know and like, to help them understand the theory of music that connects jazz and traditional classical.

About the Potential Effectiveness of Hi-Impact:
Using contemporary music has worked especially well serving underserved students in cities across the nation. According to data in the Executive Summary of Berklee City Music, Boston, which our Hi-Impact program emulates:

  • 100 percent of high school seniors in Berklee City Music graduate from high school
  • 100 percent of graduating high school seniors who applied for college were accepted
  • 100 percent of the graduating seniors have plans for college, post-secondary vocational training, or community college
  • 45 percent of Berklee City Music graduates who attend Berklee as college freshmen have tested out of first-year coursework or been placed into advanced level classes
  • Many of these students are first in their families to attend college and, prior to their participation in the program, had never thought higher education was possible for them.

About Campus Club Milledgeville A2RTS2 Initiative:
The AARTSSinitiative (Academic & Artistic, Renaissance, Teaching, Student Success) of Campus Club Milledgeville is a “Practical skill building” dynamic that provides a comprehensive year-round program connecting academics, Fine Arts and technology, to provide access to high quality learning opportunities to engage, serve and motivate young minds. The program will provide opportunities for positive role-model relationships. This establishes our vision of a creative arts community axis-point that caters to the millennial generation for developing their artistic skills to succeed in this competitive job market.

These students will have the unique opportunity to have access to TWO prestigious universities with great Fine Arts programs, Berklee College of Music located in Boston Massachusetts and Georgia College & State University located in Milledgeville Georgia. Both colleges’ strategic initiative engages underserved youth for preparation to pursue higher education, using the medium of the arts.

About Academics Associated with Hi-Impact:
CCM has partnered with Alpha Test Preparation & Tutorial Services (ATP), to provide academic enrichment for CCM participants. ATP celebrates a decade of supporting middle-Georgia’s youth. It serves students, k-12 in reading, language arts, and math, with a 98% high school graduation and 88% CRCT passage rates. ATP uses a Differentiated Instruction model consisting of Cooperative Learning, Direct Instruction, Previewing, Acceleration, and Graphic Organizers. Incorporating CRCT sub-test results, provider administered pre-test, classroom teacher conferencing and parent/guardian input. ATP then develops an individualized assessment profile for each student leading to an Instructional Plan for success.

About the Music Selection of Hi-Impact:
Staff will choose performance material that is family-friendly that challenges students in the areas of harmony, theory, ear training, and instrumental/vocal performance, from multiple genres of contemporary music. Songs from famed artists such as Mary J. Blige, Earth Wind & Fire, and Toby Mac will allow students to artistically grow using music they like. Retro-Soul, Hip Hop, Gospel and Poetry allows every student freedom to grow in their performance discipline. Visual Art (Photography and Video Editing) will also be offered to selected students.

About Hi-Impact’s Selection Process:
This program requires an audition. Staff will be looking for “raw” talent in the audition process rather than highly developed technical skills. They also look for students who are ready to work hard, take school seriously, and have a strong desire to develop as artists.   The familial support of perspective students will weigh into the selection process.
