X-Ccel:

The X-Ccel program, which is comprised of 8-12 year old Creekside students, is a product of Campus Club Milledgeville’s A2RTS2 Initiative (Academic & Artistic, Renaissance, Teaching, Student Success). This program engages students through the arts to develop long-lasting relationships providing the impetus to stay in school until graduation and, for others, the inspiration to pursue college education.

X-Ccel presently has two major objectives:

  1. To Prepare Creekside Students For the CRCT and the Ga. Writing Assessment

Campus Club Milledgeville has partnered with Alpha Test Preparation & Tutorial Services (ATP) to oversee the academic enrichment. Mr. Douglas Stewart and staff will work to better equip students as they prepare for their CRCT April 16-20, 2012 and 5th graders during the Ga. Writing Assessment, March 7-8, 2012

  1. To Introduce Multiple Avenues of Artistic Expression

The X-Ccel program will introduce and emphasize mastering the students chosen style of artistic expression. They will learn through individual studies or work with others. Whether they have some experience or never performed, they can improve their artistic skills by attending this program.

About Campus Club Milledgeville A2RTS2 Initiative:
The A2RTS2 initiative (Academic & Artistic, Renaissance, Teaching, Student Success) of Campus Club Milledgeville is a “Practical skill building” dynamic that provides a comprehensive year-round program connecting academics, Fine Arts and technology, to provide access to high quality learning opportunities to engage, serve and motivate young minds. The program will provide opportunities for positive role-model relationships. This establishes our vision of a creative arts community axis-point that caters to the millennial generation for developing their artistic skills to succeed in this competitive job market.

These students will have the unique opportunity to have access to TWO prestigious universities with great Fine Arts programs, Berklee College of Music located in Boston Massachusetts and Georgia College & State University located in Milledgeville Georgia. Both colleges’ strategic initiative engages underserved youth for preparation to pursue higher education, using the medium of the arts.

About Academics Associated with X-Ccel:
CCM has partnered with Alpha Test Preparation & Tutorial Services (ATP), to provide academic enrichment for CCM participants. ATP celebrates a decade of supporting middle-Georgia’s youth. It serves students, k-12 in reading, language arts, and math, with a 98% high school graduation and 88% CRCT passage rates. ATP uses a Differentiated Instruction model consisting of Cooperative Learning, Direct Instruction, Previewing, Acceleration, and Graphic Organizers. Incorporating CRCT sub-test results, provider administered pre-test, classroom teacher conferencing and parent/guardian input. ATP then develops an individualized assessment profile for each student leading to an Instructional Plan for success.

About the Music Selection of X-Ccel:
Staff will choose performance material that is family-friendly that challenges students in the areas of harmony, theory, ear training, and instrumental/vocal performance, from multiple genres of contemporary music. Songs from famed artists such as Mary J. Blige, Earth Wind & Fire, and Toby Mac will allow students to artistically grow using music they like. Retro-Soul, Hip Hop, Gospel and Poetry allows every student freedom to grow in their performance discipline. Visual Art (Photography and Video Editing) will also be offered to selected students.
